Volume 8, Issue 25
Fear generated by establishment anxiety precludes consideration of common character traits in family values.
Review of admonitions from warring ideological groups reveals the pervasive view that some undefined, nondescript entity must be the villainous support propping up an opposing movement. The far right believes in a shadow establishment bureaucracy that wields power of government in direct contempt of the people’s democratic will. It must be exposed. The far left believes in a more defined passive establishment that represents an historical status quo. It must be overthrown. The current Presidential Administration believes in a corrupt establishment. Metaphorically, it is a swamp that must be drained.
Academics believe that their scientific research results in absolutism in how to deal with the pandemic presently or climate change enduringly. Skeptics must be thwarted. Those questioning climate change believe that a self-serving scientific community exercises deceit and overreach. They must be countered.
We must each decide for ourselves the source of truth upon which we determine our character.
Lance Wallnau, a distinguished contemporary Christian author and lecturer, teaches on the Seven Mountain theology as the governing pillars of society. Six of these pillars are impacted by the natural human frailty of establishment anxiety. Education, government, arts & entertainment, business, religion, and media are all accused of having unseen proponents behind the curtain of the power structure integrally involved in directing outcomes. Various adversaries focused on each of these pillars believe that disguised, biased, and manipulative forces attempt to bend the perception of truth. Often, individuals are attached to these efforts. Whether it is George Soros or Charles Koch, Nancy Pelosi or Donald Trump, Robert DeNiro or Denzel Washington, people can find leaders in each stated mountain of influence to align with their predetermined beliefs.
Therefore, establishment anxiety becomes cultural anxiety.
The seventh pillar or mountain is the one influence self-contained and non-corrupting of other mountains. It is the family. The individual is responsible for the attributes of sound character. The family is the unit of authority for moral values. The other six pillars of influence are in ultimate mission designed to influence the decision of the family unit. Moral values in America start with the family.
The family starts with a God-ordained relationship of individuals in marriage.
A serious true conflict in American society today that must be addressed is implicit, cultural, societal, systemic racism. The hostile environment felt by African-Americans and our brothers and sisters of color is not establishment anxiety. It is not the subject of a conspiracy theory. It is real. It is a reality in which we all live and all have a personal responsibility to cure. Each individual’s definition of his or her own character must include being aware of circumstances that impugn the dignity of the human race. It requires a sensitivity to listen to our fellow relatives of one blood as they honestly declare and ask for fellowship in eliminating racism, bigotry, and selfish judgement.
Race relations is the one issue facing America today that can, in fact, unite us across the vast chasms of ideological, intractable beliefs. The African-American community is foundational in Christian faith. As a community, they have survived by standing true to God’s definition of individual purpose to persevere. They have experienced and embraced the hope of Christ in generational sacrifice. By and through these personal attributes, they have found strength in family.
By their example of tenaciously keeping the faith of family authority for family values, they present the opportunity to lead America back to her virtuous roots of relying upon God for choice of destiny in His eternal purpose. And by this faith, the family can, in fact, influence the other six pillars and societal mountains for the ultimate objective of truth manifested in the hearts and minds of mankind.
For God’s truth will set us free.
