"There is still hope for America. Now more than ever is the time to stand up for our values, our faith, and our Constitutional rights."
The French elites were in denial about the common plight of their countrymen. In the United States today, we are told by the intellectuals that there are no answers to our problems and that we just have to live with the consequences. For some reason, the establishment cannot process reality. They seem to be telling us that political correctness, current government structure, and the system in place dictates that our lives are driven by events rather than decisions.
The elites are in denial on Iran. They believe that a country determined to defeat us will honor an agreement that has no penalties. They are in denial on China. They believe that a communist economic system can be incorporated into the World Trade Organization without recompense for currency exchanges and equity markets. They are in denial on government regulation. They believe that by further restricting freedom, they somehow enhance it. They are in denial on Western culture. They believe that it has no argument as a standard for the world. They are in denial on Christianity. They do not believe that its laws and protocol are a statement on civil order. They are in denial on the Constitution. They do not believe that separation of powers, states’ rights, and individual liberty paramount to the formula for the pursuit of opportunity. They are in denial about the American model for commerce. They do not recognize that small and family owned businesses provide services to the local community as well as innovation and support for large businesses for the creation of jobs.
In the world today, there is a desperate need for men and women in leadership positions who have the character to acknowledge that “business as usual” is not only unacceptable, but it is destructive. The only way that nations can pursue the current course of government is to care little or nothing for the next generation.
Donald Trump is providing a service to this country today by speaking out against the status quo and demanding answers on immigration, the budget, health care, and foreign policy. Right or wrong, he is not yielding to the position of the King’s court that the public should accept the consequences of an action. He is the Maximilien de Robespierre of American politics. Robespierre was wrong when he worshiped reason. But he was right when he said, “The secret of freedom lies in educating people, whereas the secret of tyranny is in keeping them ignorant.” The elites seem stunned that the public is demanding cogent, reflective, curative responses.
During the French Revolution, the King attempted to escape Paris. He had forty-six carriages in his entourage. He was so detached from reality, that he thought that was inconspicuous because the train wasn’t one hundred. He actually made it through the first two check points because no one thought anyone could be that stupid. He was stopped at the third check point by revolutionary guards who inquired of the occupants, just in case. I suspect that the guards were just as shocked as Louis.
There is still hope for America. Now more than ever is the time to stand up for our values, our faith, and our Constitutional rights. It is critical that we do not allow the elites to proffer that the true discussion of solutions is socially unacceptable. Unless we press our convictions, the elites will suppress our liberty.
This is a time when change will only come from the people’s demands. And then the elites will follow the people, lest they end up “eating cake.”
