Volume 11, Issue 24
It is imperative in setting the stage for implementation of the comprehensive campaign strategy that all elements of appearance, distraction, or dilution are controlled to sustain continuity of the campaign message.
Anyone considering running is now in the process of laying the foundational structure for their stage performance. Rehearsal, warmup, orchestral preamble, acts one, two and three, and the grand finale are all included in the planning. This summer is the time of preparation for the launch of the entire production’s schedule.
Events have occurred the past two weeks that reflect presidential campaign priorities. Former President Trump was indicted and arraigned in Florida. Why not Washington, DC? Sticking with judicial protocol, the Department of Justice has made no official comment on the matter. The District of Columbia would have been a better venue for the prosecution. Any jury pool where Trump received 4% of the vote in the last election would have favored the government.
Speculation is that the government was concerned about defense motions arguing for a change of venue based on the unlikelihood of a fair trial in Washington, DC. Therefore, bring charges in Florida and bypass any delays. However, the presiding judge is a Trump appointee. Granted defense motions for legal posturing could be numerous. A jury pool there would be more likely to favor the former President.
Certain experts have opined that the evidence is so strong in support of the indictments that it didn’t matter where the government filed charges. There is another possible argument.
Recent polls have been consistent for some time now that 65% of the American public do not want either President Biden or former President Trump to be the next President of the United States. President Biden’s managers may have determined that the only candidate that Biden can defeat is Trump. Keeping Trump on the ballot while charges are pending may be critical to the Biden campaign strategy. Also, Trump’s lawyers may have determined that the only way for him to successfully defend against the charges is to first be reelected as President. Both strategies involve Trump being on the ballot without resolution of a trial to determine guilt or innocence.
The Constitutional right to a speedy trial is in the hands of the defendant. The prosecutor is ready to go to trial the day the charges are filed. It is the purview of the defendant to decide when he is confident in his defense for a complete and fair trial.
There is no evidence that the government chose Florida as a venue other than for the best interest of all parties involved. Yet, Florida sets the stage for both presidential campaigns’ strategies if, in fact, key components of each strategy are relative as outlined above.
Yesterday, the AFL-CIO endorsed President Biden for reelection. The endorsement is not unusual. However, the early timing is unprecedented. This setting of the stage makes it very difficult, if not impossible, for any other national candidate to challenge the President in the primaries.
President Biden’s son, Hunter, today agreed to plead guilty to two minor misdemeanor tax crimes. This closes the books on the federal investigation. Republicans decry the plea bargain as leniency reflecting a two-tiered legal system. Former President Trump was indicted on espionage charges, the maximum charge possible pursuant to the evidence. House Speaker McCarthy has vowed to continue a Congressional investigation of the Biden family finances. The agreement now sets the stage for confrontations in reference to Hunter Biden’s questionable activity to be between Republican partisans and the President. The Department of Justice is eliminated as an influencing factor for the emotional tilting of the political scales.
This past weekend, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., an announced Democratic candidate opposing President Biden, was censored by YouTube. The removal of Kennedy’s video allegedly was because of his miscommunications and false commentary on vaccines. Who made that decision under what curriculum of analysis or protocol? Coincidence in timing? This sets the stage to diminish Mr. Kennedy if for any reason President Biden falters.
Why all the drama in setting the stage?
Because President Biden's reelection effort is an arranged campaign. There are to be no Democratic Presidential debates. The primaries have been rearranged so that South Carolina can go first before New Hampshire and Iowa to ensure an initial primary victory for Biden. All issues of personal character or family cover-up of illegal activity are to be eliminated. Every effort is being made to dissuade the independent movement of the “No Labels” party from supporting an independent candidate for President. The Biden campaign strategy is simply to give the American people one option in their decision-making process for the election of the next President. They can vote to reelect a president who will maintain societal stability through business as usual. Or they can vote for a former president who will disrupt society as an objective.
The progressive brain trust is now fearful that, no matter how the stage is set, President Biden cannot be reelected. After former President Trump’s indictment, he still leads President Biden in head-to-head polls. CNN released a poll today claiming that Trump’s negatives had increased. Yet he tops Governor DeSantis by 21 points. Interesting that they did not release the Trump-Biden head-to-head numbers. NBC released a poll Sunday showing that President Biden’s negatives had gone up as much as President Trump’s and he trailed the former President by seven points.
Alternative strategies are most likely being considered.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis is considering entering the Democratic presidential primary. He is a credible candidate who has the ability to self-fund his campaign. In 2020, President Biden did not come in first or second in New Hampshire or Iowa. If the President falters in the 2024 New Hampshire primary and Iowa caucuses, all the stage settings may not be enough to hold back the dike which could break. At that point, the President may find some reason to step off the stage. This would have to occur before Super Tuesday in March.
Why?
Because delegates to the Democratic National Convention are only bound in their votes on the first ballot. If no candidate reaches a majority, then anyone can be nominated from the floor of the convention. Leaving primary ballots open by Super Tuesday could allow for a brokered convention. Speculation on who might be nominated could fill the auditorium. Former First Lady Michelle Obama has been mentioned.
As voters, U.S. citizens must remember that, in attending a theatrical production, the setting of the stage is designed to focus the audience’s attention on the theme of the performance. Whether or not the moral of the story is a principle to which one can relate depends upon each person’s own code of morality…
And so it is in Presidential elections.
