Volume 8, Issue 49
This year of 2020 will go down in everyone’s life as a year of strife and struggles. Anxiety is manifested in citizens’ lack of confidence in government institutions. In the past, the exercise of democracy has provided some relief in political compromise through the transparent elections of new leaders. The ongoing challenges of the current Presidential election cycle has provided little emotional remedy. The balance of power in the U.S. Senate hangs on the outcome of runoff elections in Georgia this January. The matter of state brings to the forefront the consideration that government does not, in and of itself, ensure peace of mind.
What then is the natural order for stability under the incumbency of each individual’s authority?
It is the family.
In the natural and in religious spirituality, the family structure is the foundational pillar of designed order. Most species in nature nurture their young. The more complicated the life form, the more structured the support for the offspring. In evolution, there is a consistency from generation to generation for the survival protocol. In the animal kingdom, most skills are instinctive and few are learned.
In human beings, most skills are learned and few are instinctive. Homo sapiens are the only species that teach their offspring, their children, a code of morality. This instructive period lasts to majority age of eighteen by law until parental approval is no longer required.
This process of generational order is basically identical in determination whether by evolution or creation. Therefore, in what Truth do we place our hope based upon what evidence?
In current culture today, a prevalent analysis of society centers on spheres of influence. It is called the Seven Mountains. It has been made popular by Bill Bright and Lance Wallnau. These mountains include media, government, business, religion, education, and arts and entertainment. The seventh mountain is the most important: family. All the other mountains, in one way or another, seek to influence the family. Only the family does not seek to influence the other seven mountains.
Why? Because the family is the moral authority of society. And in this jurisdiction are the building blocks of a country. The family is like the crown in a kingdom. The king sets the standard. He is the standard. All other domains of influence reference or react to the standard.
The evidence, therefore, indicates that the family is ordained by law in its authority. The question then is, is it the undocumented law of a mysterious universe or is it the law of a spiritual order designed by God?
Renowned physicist Stephen Hawking believed that the great uncaused cause, that which always existed, was gravity. Human existence was an accident, unsustainable in the greater purpose of the universe. His only question was, why did the universe exist? He spent very little time on the consequences of the natural order of society. One could call this the “Hawking Theory of Reality (HTR).”
Hawking’s predecessor, Albert Einstein, was just as great a physicist in theory and discovery as Hawking. Yet, he came to a completely different conclusion about the universe based upon the exact same set of facts. He believed circumstantial evidence was too great mathematically to make any sense other than that God designed the universe for a purpose. The great uncaused cause, therefore, was a personal Creator. The “Einstein Theory of Reality (ETR)” is that the order in the universe, on the earth, and in the society of mankind, could not be an accident. Therefore, the natural order of authority of the family is designed by the Creator.
The family, in its ultimate influence over the other six mountains of culture, exercises its jurisdictional prerogative based upon either HTR or ETR. This order rests on the genesis of a particular source. HTR leads to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter. Hope is irrelevant to the future.
ETR is consistent with the founding of the United States which declared that jurisdictional authority of the state was subservient to the principle that God is sovereign over man, and man is sovereign over government. Family order in line with God’s authority provides ultimate hope for the future of mankind’s relationship with government.
Hope based on a falsehood is fantasy. It can only lead to disillusionment. Peace can only be realized in the confidence of surrender that there is a purpose to existence. For, existence of reality is greater than any individual or the collective of humanity. This existence, even though greater, is designed for the benefit of each family by and through a personal Creator.
Advent is the season of reflection on the answer to the question of what is real. The evidence of the order of things leads to the conclusion that Einstein was right. The universe was designed by a Creator for a specific purpose of peaceful order.
In the Christian faith, the cornerstone of order is the belief that Christ is who He said He was. The Church is the cornerstone of the Body of Christ. The family is the cornerstone of the Church.
Peace is found in the celebration of the birth and the hope of the resurrection of the Savior Jesus Christ.
Reflect on these things in this Advent season. Peace simply comes from believing and accepting the evidence of order.
