Volume 10, Issue 35
Queen Elizabeth for seventy years served the British people, the British Commonwealth, and western democracy, by the personal identification of all that is potentially good and righteous in human character. In her service to her nation, she was sacrificial, non-judgmental, patient, tolerant, consistent, strong, and persevering. She provided the continuity that the United Kingdom required in the transition from an imperial power to the leader of a commonwealth republic.
The Queen’s relationship with the British people was described by one commentator as the flesh and blood of the British constitution. The U.K. does not have a codified constitutional document. Rather, the authority of Parliament rests on a series of Acts, constitutional statutes, and judicial decisions. This collection of legislative actions over several centuries has given Parliamentary Sovereignty to the House of Commons lead by a Prime Minister. Queen Elizabeth personified the relationship between the government and the governed for the protection of people’s rights established first, in England, by the Magna Carta in 1215 AD.
People desperately not only desire, but need a righteous leader to whom they can personally relate.
At the dawn of society, the unit of authority that was the security for individual existence was the family. Whether one believes in evolution or creation, the original jurisdiction of governing for morality, politics, personal contribution, and purpose was the nuclear family. The family was necessary for survival by division of labor. It was the one place where everyone could find their place. In the family one could find security, peace, reverence, and meaning.
As society evolved, families merged into tribes. Tribes developed specialties. Chieftains rose to magnify and consolidate tribal talents into a greater assimilated ethnic culture. As regions of self-sufficiency emerged, military prowess was necessary for the protection of the regional borders. Chieftains evolved into kings. Culture evolved into realms. Realms evolved into nations.
As the basis of connectivity between the people and the monarch, the family units continue to be the building blocks of a nation. Families are to societal structure what the atom is to matter.
Yuval Harari, in his book Sapiens, argues that religion was excogitated to hold ancient tribes together in a single purpose of existence. He defiles any religion or belief in God as a myth. He ignores the proposition that, if Homo sapiens have evolved intellectually to the point of being able to define transcendent morality, then why hasn’t humanity jettisoned religion?
In 6,000 years of recorded history, a religious being has perpetually been the source of authority for an emperor or king. Not until Karl Marx was there a proclamation for a totalitarian leader without the recognition of a higher authority. Of course, to sustain such a governmental system, the people are relegated to the status of subservient serfs. There is no partnership between citizen and government. Such systems generate leaders who evolve into despots accountable only to this system of things while the people suffer. Both Harari and Marx have denied the Al Gore concept of an “inconvenient truth.”
Christians trust that God always knows what He is doing. He allowed Israel to have the king they wanted. Yet he later raised up King David, a leader after His own heart and mind. King David, of course, made mistakes. But he repented and always deferred to God’s sovereignty over man.
Two thousand twenty-two years ago, Christians believe God delivered to the world His son as humanity’s savior. He became the flesh and blood manifestation of the covenant between God, mankind, and government. He reaffirmed the laws of the Ten Commandments contained in the Ark by personal representation with whom the people could relate.
Everyone knows that they have fallen short at times from some moral code or standard they have set for themselves. What people need is a relationship with a leader that has as their objective to uphold righteousness without judgment or condemnation of individuals. People want to be held to a standard they know they should adhere to, but cannot. Grace is understanding the inherent weakness in mankind. Even if said leader falls short, as long as they are remorseful, admit their wrong, and then purposefully carry on, many people are willing to forgive as they themselves want to be forgiven.
The United States has a Constitution. It is codified into a document that is the supreme law of the land. It outlines a set of rights for every American that are to be defended by the government. All rights are declared by the Declaration of Independence to be granted by God. This intent of recognizing God’s sovereignty over government is incumbent in these two documents.
Currently, citizens of the United States reflect their feelings that the government is in crisis. There is no leader or institution at the national level with whom or which they approve. There is no flesh and blood as a national leader to whom they can relate personally. Americans respect the Constitution and each other. But the Constitution cannot act on its own. Only through by righteous leaders who embrace the principles of the Constitution in governance can the rights of the citizens be defended.
As stated in previous reports, 60% of the American public believes that Congress is corrupt, not wrong, corrupt and self-serving. Sixty-five percent believe many candidates running for federal office are deceitful and intentional of pursuing their own personal agenda. Eighty-seven percent believe the country is on the wrong track. And now, 66% believe that democracy is threatened.
The people are in despair.
AmericasOne research has discovered that Americans have retreated back into the one unit, since the dawn of civilization, that has provided security, the family. Voters are demanding that candidates be sacrificial and committed to service. Queen Elizabeth was the head of the Church of England. She believed in Jesus Christ and on many occasions referred to Him as her source of purpose. She was the hope realized that leaders could be committed to principles first with ultimate respect for familial authority.
Americans believe in their Constitution, their nation, and each other. Mankind responds to unconditional love. Citizens respond to government partnership in their pursuit of happiness.
The authority of the family as the essential foundational element that secures the stability of society in the United States is the essence of what defines us as Americans. Empowerment of the family unit should be the objective of every elected official.
What Americans desire and deserve are leaders who will respect citizens’ values and authority over their own family units as they unselfishly preserve the sanctuary of unconditional purpose.
